Twenty Group History
The 20-Group concept was developed in 1947 by a group of automobile dealers who were trying to adjust to the changing environment of the retail automobile industry. They met informally at first to discuss changes in product availability, attracting customers, financing their growing businesses and the best ways to maximize their assets.
As time progressed, these groups developed into a structured system called a “20-Group”. The groups were limited in size to be sure that all attending members participated in all phases of the meeting and that each retailer’s problems and accomplishments were reviewed by the group.
